Car Alarms: mazda6 2004 alarn, mazda service, mazda dealership

Question
hi
I have just purchased a Mazda 6 estate 2004. I have just noticed that there is a red light flashing every couple of seconds on the dash. The light is the Security Indicator light (looks like a car with a key in it). I can open the car using the fob. I can start the engine, the light diasppears. But when I stop the light starts flashing again. I can lock the doors using the fob. But if open the door with the key - the alarm goes off. Help???

Answer
That actually may be the intended way this
security system operates.

The physical arming and locking of the doors
and unlocking and disarming are dependent
on the remote. Using the key, confuses the issue
here unless it's -key in the drivers door,
turn left, (disarms at this point) and then
right to unlock.
If resetting, key in, turn left
to lock and arm.) then right to disarm the
factory alarm.

Best idea is to only use the remote to perform these functions from here on out, but contact the
Mazda dealership to confirm that.

I know that the idiot lights
that remind you to lock and arm the alarm
like that are annoying for sure, but I think
you will need to talk to Mazda service and see
what they have to say on it. It is the factory
system, so start with them on how to bypass
the idiot light if possible. I have nothing
on it in my notes.

Good hunting &
good luck.
