Car Alarms: AMX 7 wont arm, car alarm installation, alarmtek

Hello experts! I recently bought a truck (94 Ranger) from a buddy and although he assures me that the thing worked at one point, I cannot get the alarm to arm (or do anything, for that matter). It is a Prime AMX 7. I have found the valet switch and the LED. I have a 2 button remote. I've tried arming it with all the doors shut (nothing happens). I have tried turning on the ignition and flipping the valet switch (still, nothing). In fact, up until yesterday, I have never seen the LED lit. Yesterday, I accidentally got the thing to light up, while trying to start my truck with a almost dead battery, so I know it's hooked up. Also, the led on the remote lights, so I kinda doubt its a remote battery issue.

Any help with this would be so appreciated.
