Car Alarms: Car alarm install, nissan maxima, alarmtek

I am buying a remote start and alarm for my girlfriend's 2001 Nissan Maxima and the place I'm buying it from wants to know if she has a chip in her current alarm key or if it's a basic alarm. How do i find this out without asking her and ruining the surprise.

It does indeed have a transponder in the key
and will require either the PKALL or the xk05
bypass kit to remote start this car:
