Nissan Repair: RE4F02A 1993 MAXIMA OVERHAUL QUESTIONS, lockup torque converter, transgo shift kit

Question
Hi Von how are you:

I was wondering if you can list me the hard parts and any ancillary parts you suggest I REPLACE when I do the overhaul next summer on this automatic trans.  Please list parts that are not typically included in the Transgo shift kit or Master Rebuild Kits eg. Gaskets, Metal Clad Seals, Sealing Rings, Clutch Plates, Steel Plates.

I want this to be a major overhaul, but I don't want to replace parts that are un-necessary, but I do want to reset it to brand new factory specifications if possible.

Answer
Ron,

You are spot on with your parts suggestion on a transmission rebuild.  I would recommend a new pump and torque converter.  I say a torque converter too since I have seen so many fail that were reused.  If not, have yours checked out to make sure it is within tolerances.  Remember the lockup torque converter is part of it...  The reason for a pump is the parts are mild steel and wear.  A new pump assures full pump pressure with your new parts.
