Car Alarms: Disarm, alarmtek, trickle charge

Question
I was connecting a trickle-charge cable to the battery pos. cable on my wife's 98 Camry and accidentally loosened the + cable. Now, retightening/reconnecting the + cable always causes the alarm/horn to sound. My wife is out of town WITH the only alarm-remote, so I can't disable the alarm with it.  (Inserting my key into the ignition has no effect. Also, there is a valet switch, but pushing the button on it doesn't have any effect.)Any ideas about how to disable the alarm so that I can re-connect the battery cable and use the car? Or, must I wait for the return of the remote in 3 weeks? Thanks.

Answer
Hmmmm,
Make sure you do the procedure correctly.
Might have missed a step:

PUT IGNITION KEY IN IGNITION,
KEY ON TO JUST BEFORE CRANKING THE ENGINE.
PRESS IN AND HOLD VALET SWITCH
UNTIL YOU GET A RESPONCE
FROM THE ALARM.

KEY OFF.

This should toggle the alarm in and out of
valet/override.

If toggle type switch.
KEY ON, FLIP SWITCH, KEY OFF,
START THE CAR.

I hope this solved it for you.
If not, there's always Federal Express...
