Car Alarms: Disable Alarm System or reset, nissan xterra, dash area

Question
I have a 2000 Nissan Xterra and I do not have any power going to my engine.  I have a factory alarm system.  Trying to find out how do I reset the system so that my car will start.  The inside, outside lights come on however not the engine.  The car do not turn over either.  The starter, battery was check and both were ok.

Please advise

Answer
Hmmmm, Likely to be factory if it's the car's
own horn honking.

However, if it's a siren and flashing lights,
it's after market.

Ok, here's what I know...

Normally, putting the key in the drivers side door lock,
turning to the left, then to the right all the way
will unlock and disarm/reset the "OEM factory"
alarm system.

If it's after market, try the following:

PUT IGNITION KEY IN IGNITION,
KEY ON TO JUST BEFORE CRANKING THE ENGINE.
PRESS IN AND HOLD VALET SWITCH FOUND UNDER THE DASH
AREA UNTIL YOU GET A RESPONCE FROM THE ALARM.

KEY OFF.

This should toggle the alarm in and out of
valet/override.

If toggle type switch.
KEY ON, FLIP SWITCH, KEY OFF,
START THE CAR.
