Car Alarms: disable anti-theft alarm system, pin switch, lincoln continental

Question
Hi,

I have a 1999 Lincoln Continental.
Sometimes, the car anti theft alarm system becomes ON randomly for no apparent reason with alarm sounds and flashing lights. This happens when car is locked and parked. I then have to open the door with the key and the alarm goes off.

I also notice that sometimes the "Door ajar" message appears on the message board when infact all doors are closed.

Is there a relation between these 2 problems ? That is, a faulty door sensor giving 'door ajar' message and turning ON the alarm ?

I also read in some forum that locking the car with key only (i.e do not use remote transmitter or power door lock control) can disarm the alarm system. Is that true ?

Thank you
Pradeep

Answer
Yes. I wuld put these two together. The "door ajar" is reporting a
drain on the battery. This would trigger the factory system.

Have the door pin switch or door damage looked at so you
can use the security correctly or this will always occur.

Once fixed, the system should return to normal
operation.

Good luck.
