I have a Mitsubishi 96 Eclipse 2.0 DOHC. I didn't know why the check engine light on and I took the car to the dealer and let them cheack. They said that something wrong with the power steering pump switch. Can you tell me where to buy that and where is that locate in the engine. Thanks

Answer
Hoaibao35,
The P/S oil pressure switch is attached to the side of the power steering pump.  It's function is to tell the car's computer the oil pressure, and Eclipses have a type of speed-sensitive steering; thought it's more gauged on the RPMs.  The steering will become stiffer at higher speeds (RPMs), and easier to steer at lower speeds (RPMs).

If your switch is failing, it may trip the check engine light, or that may indicate your pump is low on P/S fluid.  The only place to obtain a new P/S pressure switch is from the Mitusbishi dealership.  I believe the part number is MR197501.  You may be able to do this job yourself, but you may be required to drain your power steering fluid and refill it properly after the switch is replaced.
Good luck!
