Car Alarms: 2005 Jeep Liberty Alarm Issues, auto starter, jeep liberty

Question
Good morning.  For the past 24 hours, trying to determine the problem so we can at least drive the car, very frustrating to say the least.

We have a used Jeep Liberty that has an aftermarket alarm system and auto starter.

Yesterday, we did the auto start and when we went to get into the car, the remote control would not unlock the doors. Trying to use the key to get in the door would set off the siren type alarm.  They car will not turn on either with the key.  Auto start and alarm turn off after about 10 minutes.  Now auto starter won't even work.  The remote lights up when buttons are pushed, indicating to us the battery is not the issue.

Looked for a toggle switch under the dash with no luck in finding it, was hoping if we can turn off the alarm, we can get the car to start.  Next idea was to simply disconnect the battery and hope it knocks out the system itself so at least we can start the car and drive it.  Have not done this yet...trying to gather as much info first before doing anything else.

Any other advice?  I can definitely say that all alarm system companies are not equal...this is becoming a nightmare and I'm not new to aftermarket alarm systems, I have them on every car.  This is just a used car that I did not have a choice in.

Thanks for any assistance in advance.

Answer
Since this has an auto starter, look at the antenna placed on the
windshield. The valet switch is likely to be an inset button in it.

Then use the manual for the procedure.
Should be key on, press in and hold button until
you get a responce. This toggles from mode to mode.
Then key off.

The "key unlock while the car is in remote starter mode",
is a safety feature. You will need to ID the after market system
you have to be able to change or add to this setting.

I hope you can identify the system so you can learn what
it's capable of doing, and what it's not.

Good luck.
