Car Alarms: car alarm, dash lights, ford explorer

i have a 2004 ford explorer with a 100% factory alarm system.  its my 7th ford with this sytem but its the first one to honk 3-4 times when i lock or unlock the car by pressing the keypad once.  if i dem the dash lights all the way out where the switch locks, the car will honk once with lock or unlock.  in past explorers you press twice to get the car to honk, any fix ideas?
