Question
QUESTION: I HAVE A 98 CHEVY CAMARO Z28 LAST NIGHT I GOT HOME FROM WORK GOT OUT OF MY CAR AND LOCKED IT LIKE ALAWAYS ABOUT TEN MINUTES LATER MY CAR ALARM WENT OFF THE HORN BEEPED TWICE AND STOPED I DIDNT THINK MUCH ABOUT IT THEN A COUPLE OF MINUTES LATER IT BEEPED TWICE AGAIN THEN A FEW MINUTES LATER IT WENT OFF AND STAYED ON I TRIED TO TURN IT OF WITH THE KEYLESS ENTRY AND IT WOULD NOT WORK THE ONLY WAY IT WOULD GO OFF WAS IF I TURNED THE CAR ON.AFTER IT WENT OFF I TRIED TO USE THE KEYLESS ENTRY AND IT WOULD NOT WORK SO I LOCKED THE DOORS AND WENT BACK INSIDE TEN MINUTES LATER IT STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN THE SAME THING NOW EVERY TIME I LOCK MY CAR IN ABOUT TEN OR SO MINUTES THE ALARM STARTS GOING OFF WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO FIX IT

ANSWER: I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY or, ANTI-THEFT" light
in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: IT IS A FACTORY ALARM SYSTEM THE HORN BEEPS THE TAIL LIGHTS AND THE HEADLIGHTS GO OFF AND THE DASH LIGHTS GO OFF

Answer
Ok, some 98' Camaro models are equipped with a factory alarm.
However the only way to disarm these alarms is with the
factory remote, or by turning on the ignition
to turn off the factory alarm.

I am guessing you do not have the factory alarm remote, right?
If not, you will need it.

If it's the VATS system (www.GMVATS.com)
causing the trouble, it can be bypassed.

But those are your variables if factory.

If the was a siren involved, that would be different.
