Car Alarms: 2006 ford explorer, transponder system, 2006 ford explorer

Question
i am trying to bug chase my friends 2006 Ford Explorer. It has had starting problems over the last few months and now it wont turn over at all. I have power to the accesories, interior/exterior lights and when i turn the key I can hear the fuel pump fire up and the starter relays engage.
I am quite convinced that the immobiliser has disabled the engine but i will be darned if i can find the valet switch!!!!
Is it going to be a case of chasing wires back through the aftermarket (ford fitted) alarm system to find it or is there a generic position??

Cheers

Answer
Ok, conflicting statements. "factory fitted" and "after market"
are different things. But from this explaination, it's the
Ford PATS transponder system (OEM/FACTORY)that is in breach.

If this is the case, the fix is 3 fold.

1. tow into the local Ford dealership service
department and have the PATS reset, and the 2 ignition
keys re programmed to start the engine.

2. Once it start's every time,
then purchase the IM05 bypass kit (89.95)
at www.ALARMTEKSUPPORT.com

3. Install this device, and PATS will become
inert. No more starter issues.

But the truck MUST start or this won't work.

If this was after market, there would be a siren,
and you would not get any reaction at all from
the starter. It's more likely that it's Forde
system, and you will need to do a bypass.

Let me know if I can get one out
to you.
