Car Alarms: 1996 Doge Caravan Security Alarm Malfunction, doge caravan, caravan security

Question
I have a '96 Dodge Caravan.  The alarm system keeps going off on it when it's not been touched.  The remote buttons for locking/unlocking the doors will not shut off the alarm. The only way to get it to shut off is to start the vehicle.  Can I have the alarm system deactivated and if so, how?  I've looked through the owner's manual and found nothing helpful on the alarm system.  I"ve also had friends that work on vehicles try to fix it and they are stumped as well.  PLEASE HELP!!!  Thank you!

Answer
Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.
