Car Alarms: 2003 Subaru Baja alarm does not arm, valet mode, subaru baja

I recently bought a 2003 Subaru Baja.  It has remote entry, but there appeared to be no alarm.  I took it to a Subaru dealer who said it did have an alarm and might be in valet mode.  He tried taking it out of valet mode, but it still did not arm.  Any ideas?

Hmmmm,
Make sure you do the procedure correctly.
Might have missed a step:

PUT IGNITION KEY IN IGNITION,
KEY ON TO JUST BEFORE CRANKING THE ENGINE.
PRESS IN AND HOLD VALET SWITCH
UNTIL YOU GET A RESPONCE
FROM THE ALARM.

KEY OFF.

This should toggle the alarm in and out of
valet/override.

If toggle type switch.
KEY ON, FLIP SWITCH, KEY OFF,
START THE CAR.

I hope this solved it for you.
If not. look forward to removal/replacement
or repair.
