Car Alarms: 1997 Honda Civic Factory Alarm, valet mode, alarmtek

Question
I recently bought a 1997 honda civic. It has a viper aftermarket alarm system installed; I had trouble with it at first but now it is in valet mode - I can see the solid red LED light on at all times (not flashing) and the "chirper" never goes off. What is happening now is the horn is going off randomly in the morning or evening hours. I think it's the factory alarm because the beeping is very regular. After maybe 10 seconds, it will stop, even if I do nothing. Also what might be relevant is I installed a new stereo a few days after getting the car and the problem never happened before that. The factory radio is in my garage, stored away. My suspicion is some material inside the car is contracting/expanding with cooling/heating and triggering the factory alarm for short periods of time. Do you know what the problem is, or where to look?
