Car Alarms: Van will not start, flip switch, battery terminal

Question
My mother in law has a 97 pontiac silhouette van, she bought new and had the dealer put in alarm system at that time,,since then the key pad on her key ring does not work,,which was ok..no problems up until we had auto zone replace the battery. when he started unbolting things to take the battery out, the alarm went off..got the battery on and alarm started going off again..with the keypad not working, had to unhook positive battery terminal..when finaly got it all hooked up, engine would not turn over..found the toggle switch and got it going by hitting reset..now when she gets out of van and starts back up she has to hit the toggle reset about every other time before it starts..any solutions we can try...Thanks so much for any help..  steve

Answer
Hmmmm,
Make sure you do the procedure correctly.
Might have missed a step:

PUT IGNITION KEY IN IGNITION,
KEY ON TO JUST BEFORE CRANKING THE ENGINE.
PRESS IN AND HOLD VALET SWITCH
UNTIL YOU GET A RESPONCE
FROM THE ALARM.

KEY OFF.

This should toggle the alarm in and out of
valet/override.

If toggle type switch.
KEY ON, FLIP SWITCH, KEY OFF,
START THE CAR.

I hope this solved it for you.
If not. look forward to removal/replacement
or repair.
