Car Alarms: 1996 pontiac grand am alarm flipping out, pontiac grand am, beepers

Question
I have a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am GT. I got it about 2 years ago and it came with one of those beepers to unlock/lock the doors and a week after I got it, I tried to unlock the doors and the alarm started going off and I couldn't get it to stop. I started the car up and about a minute later it quit..so I stopped using the beeper. Well the rainy season came and I decided to just get a new battery for the beeper and try it again. The same thing happened but this time, starting my car wouldn't make it stop. So I pulled the fuse, which made it stop. So I started it up and started driving down the road and it started beeping at me and then started going off again. I would like to just pull the stupid alarm out of the car (if it's possible) I don't usually use it anyway. Can I pull it out? Or am I going to have to take it somewhere to have it fixed? Thanks!
