Car Alarms: Car Alarm, chirp, car alarm

Question
Yesterday I noticed the chirp when I set my car alarm was suddenly very quiet, like the volume had been turned down.  The doors lock and the alarm sets but when I set off the alarm, it too was very quiet.  What happened?  Can I fix it without taking it in somewhere?

The siren may be damaged, water logged, or the system has a "quiet chirp"
function. Hard to say without inspection. Best thing here
is to take it to an installation tech for inspection.
