Car Alarms: 2007 PT Cruiser, pt cruiser, alarm systems

I own a 2007 PT Cruiser.  I just had an extra key made because I only had one.  When I use it to open the drivers door, my alarm goes off.  The company that made the key told me to just put the key in the ignition and it will stop.  If I use my factory key with the remote, the alarm doesn't sound.  This makes no sense, if my new key has been programmed and has this chip inside, why would it set off my alarm.  Can I get this corrected?  I don't want my alarm going off every time I use this new key
