Car Alarms: alarm randomly goes off, cougar ls, mercury cougar

Question
In response to a question about a 1991 Mercury Cougar LS 3.8L V6. with factory installed Ford anti-theft/remote start system where, when the doors are locked, the alarm will go off for no reason at all you responded: "it's not a factory remote starter alarm.
No such animal back then. ;>)"

I've got the '91 Thunderbird and there is no remote start, but the alarm recently started acting just as the previous person describes.  The problem came to a head today because my battery drained for the second time in as many months.  I notice that when I use the power door lock and close the door the "ALARM" light is solid.  If I lock the door with my key the "ALARM" light flashes"

Does any of this make sense?

Answer
My bet is the charging system, alternator or battery is
the culprit because the only way an OEM alarm will/can work
is by detecting a discernable battery drain. Urgo, then
electricl charging system nay need inspection.

Have this evaluated ASAP
to determine your cause.
