Car Alarms: Car will not start., honda concerto, dashboard lights

Question
Having left my Honda Concerto L reg. parked in my drive overnight I am now unable to start it. Using the key, the door opens , presenting the fob, it activates the system ( red light changes to green) inserting the key in the ignition switch and turning it all the dashboard lights go off, the engine does not turn and the alarm goes off. I have no idea what to do. Please help, I desperately need to get the car working.
