Car Alarms: remote start for 2005 Scion TC, scion tc, 2005 scion tc

Hello...I am looking to purchase a remote start for Christmas for my daughter's Scion TC. I am just about out of time due to my hesitation from being told conflicting information. Her vehicle is an automatic and she has factory remote lock and unlock key fobs. If her key is in the ignition and the vehicle is on, the buttons on her factory remote key fob will not work. I have been told she will not need a bypass by one installation shop and another has told me she will need a bypass or she will not be able to lock and unlock her vehicle. I also need a remote that will reach her vehicle that is parked in the back parking lot from her apartment in the front of the house. There are no windows or doors she can point the remote start through so basically the signal will need to go through concrete. I have been told she needs an "FM" band remote and she needs more than a 1,500 foot range. Is this true? I am looking at a compustar with a FM 3,000 foot range.
