Car Alarms: 1995 Acura alarm is flipping out, fcc id, stereo power

Question
QUESTION: I recently got a '95 Acura with an alarm system.  It had been working fine for several months, but lately when I try and start the car it shuts everything off:  I unlock the car with the remote, get in and close the door, put the key in the ignition, turn it to ON.  Up to this point everything is good (lights, stereo, power windows, etc.).  As soon as I turn the key to IGN to start the car however, everything goes black, as though all power is cut.

I have usually been able to get power back on by doing something to trigger the alarm (for example, manually locking the doors then opening with the key), which I can then disarm with the remote.  When power comes back on, the clock and stereo are reset.  The last time this happened, the alarm switched to chirping 4 times when disarming remotely rather than 2 (it normally chirps once when arming, twice when disarming).  The battery in the remote seems fine, I can arm and disarm from around 20 feet away.

I'm not sure what model the alarm is, but the remote is rectangular, with two inset buttons labeled "I" and "II" and an LED (I don't know what the "II" button does so I haven't been using it, but it doesn't seem to help here).  The remote has "PYTHON" on the front and "DEI" on the back.  The FCC ID is EZSDE1467.

I searched the internet for solutions, and found some stuff about disabling the alarm with a Valet switch, but I was unable to find one (I don't know exactly what it's supposed to look like, but didn't find any switches under the dash except a small blue button that I believe resets the "Check Engine" light).  I also saw something about disabling by disarming/unlocking, then holding the button down for around 10 seconds (until the alarm chirps) after opening the door, but that hasn't worked either.

I'd like to just disable the alarm but keep the remote unlock if possible, but if that's not an option getting rid of the alarm/remote entirely would be acceptable.

Thank you for your time and any advice you can offer.

-Peter
