Car Alarms: Headlights flashing, prestige alarm, mitsubishi eclipse

Question
QUESTION: I have a Prestige alarm installed on my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse.  I recently disconnected the battery to clean corrosion from the terminal connectors.  After I did that, anytime I opened the passenger doors, the headlights would flash repeatedly for about 5 minutes and I could hear a clicking that sounds like the noise the turn signals make.  My mechanic disconnected the ability of the alarm to control the lights so now I can drive around without the headlights flashing, but I can still hear the clicking as if the headlights want to flash.  He has no idea how to make it stop.  Hoping you can shed some light on this?

ANSWER: Gotcha, let's put it into valet/service mode,
and try to reset the alarm to default mode.

Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

At this point. the alarm would have reset.
If this had a starter kill relay installed,
it would now be opened, and the engine would
turn over when tried.

You would repeat these steps to go back to
user mode to see if this was corrected.

Let me know if it works for yours.

QUESTION: Thanks. I tried this based on your responses to previous questions. Started the car and held the push button LED. The alarm didn't chirp but the reset seems to have worked since after that, the car no longer honked when i pressed the remote though the keyless entry still worked. Did the same thing again and the alarm seems to have switched back on. After doing this, I still hear the clicking...

Answer
The brain might either have a bad ground, connection, or brain box.
At this point, I would probably remove it and start again.

Check all connection points of the alarm's wiring harness and all
grounds if keeping it. If not, unplug, verify all wire designations
as to what it does and what color, then replace with a fresh system you
know from the beginning.
