Car Alarms: 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan Alarms Goes Off By Itself, dodge grand caravan, alarmtek

Question
QUESTION: My grand caravan has the factory alarm and it goes off by itself.  It also turns itself off after approx 15-20 seconds.  It did it once a few months ago, but is now happening more frequently.  Just about every day now. Usually only once a day, but sometimes twice in a day.

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: I made a correction on the year.  It is a 1998, not 1999. Also, the alarm fob says "Eagle" on it.  I guess we assumed that it was factory.  When the alarm goes off there are no lights are flashing. The siren and horn goes off.  I don't know what is happening as far as lights on the dash because by the time I get out there it stops.

Answer
There is a sensor set too high I think.

Not certain of the system, but MOST knock/impact
sensors have a wheel inset into it to turn up or down
(counter clockwise is down).

Locate the sensor under the dash and turn down or
simply unplug it. Should be a little oblong box
wire tied up high under the dash, and would
blink when it detects vibration.

Good luck.
