Tires: Reccommended cold tire pressure for 2000 tahoe new body style, goodyear wrangler, stock wheels

Question
Hi I have a 2000 Tahoe new body style 5.3 vortec 4x4 LT ducks unlimited conversion with autoride that originally came with 265/70/16, the front tires have been replaced with goodyear wrangler pro grade LT265/75R16 it says max cold 80psi, the rear are
"Radial A/P steel belt" 265/75/16 max cold 50psi, what is the appropriate "cold" pressure for both, the placard for the stock wheels says 35 psi cold, Please advise the tires look too low but I don't want to damage them overinflating either.

thanks a million.

Answer
Ryan,

The original tires had the letter "P" in front of them.  I do not recommend switching from P metric to LT metric tires.  Here's why.

A P265/70R16 has a load carrying capacity of 2185# at 35 psi.  In order to get the same load carrying capacity an LT265/75R16 has to have 43 psi.  Needless to say this is going to put a strain on the the suspension pieces - but better that than a tire failure.
