Car Alarms: toyota vip rs3200 plus alarm, clap your hands, impact sensor

rs3200 plus alarm was installed to my 2009 rav4, the tech. already set it to max sensitivity but it doesn't give a warn away alarm if you tap the side window glass by your key, coins or any metal. just to test, the alarm will set off if you clap your hands inside the car. is my alarm defective?

The installer likely opted to install a glass break (noise)
or a microwave, motion sensor and either turned down,
or off the sensitivity of any impact sensor it may have
had. Actually, this is better to prevent falsing,
but if un happy. Talk to the tech who put it in.

Have the installer (after market/contractor) that
Toyota uses, tweek it to your liking, and answer
any other questions you might want to jot down, so you
are aware of all of it's capabilities and any drawbacks
it may present down the line.

That would make for a better overall experience
for you in the long term.
