Car Alarms: bypassing security system 98 subaru, valet mode, alarmtek

Question
I read the response to the question of bypassing the security system with a keyless mode continuing. I to have a 98 suburu but no keyless fob. The battery went dead and when  I jumped the battery the alarm came on. I attempted to use the key in the door to unlock slowly, tried the key in the acc/on mode all to no avail. Every time I attempt to reinstall the battery cables, power to the system, the alarm comes on. Before I attempt the valet/mode with the underdash button, I want to verify that using a physical key in either the door lock/acc/on  after the pushing the underdash button will allow me to disarm the system and continue to start the car?  Thanks,  AMJ

Answer
If the car has a siren, it's after market.
Do the valet over ride and see if it disengages
the starter kill. It should since the "factory"
alarm does not have starter kill, and only
honks the horn and flashes the headlights.

Go ahead and put the after market system it into valet.

(key on all the way forward just before cranking.
press and hold the valet button for up to 6 seconds
or until the lights flash and the siren chirps.
Key off. The try to start it.)

I hope this helped.
