Car Alarms: 1998 Acura RL, acura rl, 1998 acura rl

We just purchased a 1998 Acura RL at auction.  It did not come with any keys.  We are unable to start the car due to factory installed immobilizer anti-theft system.  The dealer wants $500.00 to install an new immobilizer.  Are there any other solutions?  Can the system be disconnected?

Well I think they are wrong to charge so much when it's
likely all that's needed is
to re program and provide new keys.

Your transponder system is not broken,
so why replace it? Sounds fishy.

Try the local locksmith first.

He can make and re program the transponder too.
(probably a couple of hundred dollars less too!)
