Car Alarms: Viper Car Alarm, keyless entry systems, car alarms

I just purchased a used 2003 Sahara Edition Jeep with the viper alarm already installed.  My doors lock and unlock with remote and the lights flash to let me know it locked but my concern is that the alarm does not sound off when pushing the panic button nor does it sound off when trying to get into the jeep with the alarm set.  There is no manual with this. Can you tell me if there is a problem with the alarm system and how do I correct it? Please help! Thank you!
