Car Alarms: alarm in 98 camary, flip switch, camary

I believe an alarm is in my used car that may be stopping the car from starting. There is a toggle switch near the bottom inside. The battery was disconnected for a while. After putting a new battery in, the lights would flash and a red light would blink when the door was opened. These lights never blinked before and I do not recall the red light ever blinking before. When you put the key in, the engine would not turn. I removed 2 fuses I believe are connected to the alarm (which stopped the lights from blinking). The car will now turn over, but will not start. Is there anything else that I can do?

Make sure you do the procedure correctly.
Might have missed a step:

KEY ON JUST BEFORE CRANKING ENGINE.
PRESS IN AND HOLD UNTIL YOU GET A RESPONCE
FROM THE ALARM.
KEY OFF.

This should toggle the alarm in and out of
valet/override.

If toggle type switch.
KEY ON, FLIP SWITCH, KEY OFF,
START THE CAR.
