Car Alarms: aftermarket security system in Lexus sc300, 1997 lexus sc300, lexus sc300

I purchased a 1997 lexus sc300 which had a system installed that included a small 2 inch device that would go on your key chain. Around the ignition switch was a round red wire. You could not start the car without this device close to ignition. It will no longer start. Is it possible to remove the system? I don't know where to start, and cannot tell where the wire under the dash goes to. I've had the car for about 8 years. It was originally out of California and I live in Missouri. Any ideas?

I suggest you tow it to a local car alarm shop for removal
if unsure of your skills under the dash.

It's important to get the right wires here,
and to cut and repair tthe correct ones
as well. No mistakes can be tollerated
in Lexus's. Very unforgiving if your wrong!
