Car Alarms: 1997 Nissan 200sx base Car alarm, 1997 nissan 200sx, nissan 200sx

Question
I bought this car from my aunt about a year ago. It came with an alarm. I
am not sure if it is the stock alarm or not. But its pretty basic. Its a black
remote with two buttons. One with "I" and the other with "II". I lost the alarm
box to the car and it won't start. I found the red button under the steering
column near my hood release. Im not sure if that disables the alarm but I
already tried the key in ignition 5 sec. thing. -didn't work- tried pulling
fuses under the hood...-didn't work- I guess the next thing is to get it
disabled by cutting wires but im not trying that. My alarm goes off with any
touch, if the door opens, if you open or move something in the car,
anything. Its annoying and now I cant even drive it because I lost the alarm
box. How do I disable it? What do I need to do. I guess my last step would
be to tow it to an auto shop and have them do it?

Answer
Right, Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area, usually to the left
of the leg, drilled into a plactic panel.
Might even be part of an on glass antenna
in the widshield if it's a remote starter,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes off, and the siren chirps twice.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should reset the alarm and allow you to
go on your way.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to valet mode.

That should do it.

Good luck.
