Car Alarms: car alarm, car alarms, toggle switch

we bought a 1997 cavalier that had an after factory alarm installed. The remotes are long gone and we have been starting it with the toggle switch. However this might be wearing out as well so can we disconnect the alarm, if so how?? Is there a fuse that can be removed or does the whole thing have to be dismantled??

I suggest starting with getting the wiring chart
for the car at www.wirewerx.com and then removing
it safely that way.
