everything in my headunit works except for the sub ....... i tested the sub and amp and they are both working ....the deck is alpine 9852.....the amp does turn on but the sub only puffs slightly ....

Hi,

First, make sure you go through the settings and menus for the deck itself, as many decks have the ability to turn on an off the subwoofer pre-out, as well as control their output level.

Also, if you're using a rear or front RCA output instead of a subwoofer output, make sure that you don't have any high-pass filters running from the deck that is filtering out low frequencies.

Also, make sure the gain isn't all the way down on the amplifier, and the channels are set correctly.
