Car Alarms: 99 Honda Civic EX alarm, fcc numbers, hood latch

Question
My son has a 1999 Honda Civic. The factory radio has been replaced. He does not have remote entry. The car is equipped with an annoying alarm that as soon as the door is opened the parking lights flash and the internal ignition buzzer pulses. In order to shut it off you have to push a red spring button below the hood latch and turn the key to the on position just before the car cranks. My question are; is there a way to disable it and is there a way to find out if it is factory? I'm assuming that since the factory radio has been removed and replaced, somebody had to rewire and add the spring button. The reason I am asking all these questions is because he has asked for keyless remote entry for Christmas and I didn't know if there was a way to make what he already has work. The only module that I can find under the dash appears to be regular factory. It is a whit box with FCC numbers and a Honda manufacturing logo. Any help that you could give would be much appreciated. Thanks, Gino

Answer
Nope, sorry. On the Honda stereo/factory alarm
relationship, the best thing is to
go to my installers forum at
www.installsupport.com and see if
my resident technicians there can assist
with this. My expertise is in after market
applications.

Good luck there.
