Car Alarms: remote starters, keyless entry systems, art rooney

Question
I just had bought a 2003 envoy off of art rooney and had a remote starter put in.  when i picked my car up the company that did it had pulled an alarm of some sort out of the car.  it was just sitting in the dash with the wires still bundled together and not hooked up. it is made buy automate and says AM6 on it.  .  they thought that it was an alarm system of some sort but my uncle thought that it was a remote starter. any one have any ideas?
