Car Alarms: 1997 nissan pathfinder alarm, nissan pathfinder, alarmtek

Question
QUESTION: My alarm does not always disarm with the key. The remote has to be uesd to unlock the doors. I purchased this vehicle used and would like to use just the key to enter my vehicle as we have multple family members using this vehicle. Can I disable the alarm system? Or what can be done to correct this issue. It is the factory installed alarm system.

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: This is a Nissan installed alarm system with a security light on the dash.

Answer
There is a reason I asked the question.

Alot of folks do not realize that some of what they
perceive is "factory or OEM" installed equipment is
done at the dealership by outside after market contractors
in many cases. Your vehicle fits that profile.

All alarms are different, so I was asking to help
diferenciate between the systems & give a decent answer
if possible. My bad.

Thanks for the rating.
