Car Alarms: 2005 CRV alarm goes off, shut off difficult!, dashboard panel, alarmtek

Question
QUESTION: Yesterday, I had to replace my battery -- and also a 100v fuse (top row, center in under-hood fuse box) that was next-to-dead. Today, my car alarm goes off for no reason when parked. I pressed a button on my key remote to cut it off -- and no effect! I put the key in the lock -- nothing! I tried clicking every button, opening the door, etc. nothing. Until finally it cut off though I don't know how. Then it resumed in another 30 seconds or so (noise level now in competition with my 3 year old screaming by this point), with me frantically pushing buttons, etc. Same deal --  it finally cut off, but with me not knowing how. I'm living in fear this will happen again -- like in the middle of the night. Any ideas? Or do I just bring it to a dealer?

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: Well, the horn was honking, the headlights and taillights  were all flashing... I have no idea about what was happening on the dash. I believe the dashboard panel as a whole was flashing, but I was too unnerved to notice any word like "security." I can tell you that I bought the car new, the security system was listed on the sticker, and I never had anything installed since I have owned it. It is about 3.5 years old now.

Answer
Ok, a bit complicated.
This system depends on the physical action
of the door lock locking and unlocking-arming and disarming.
If you have a factory remote, that would do this to specifications.
There is a light green/red wire, that when you use a
single negative pulse to the unlock, this wire will disarm
without unlocking.

This can only be achieved 3 ways:

1. Use key in the drivers door, turn left,
then right to disarm and unlock.

2. Add an after market keyless entry system to emulate
the factory remote functions. I have several models
if this option suits you.

3. Acquire or, replace the original remote that
can control it as specified. This would be at the
local dealership parts department.

Keep in mind, if this is after market
(siren and flashing parking lights)
then it's a different method entirely.

The standard method to disableis as follows:

Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid. If it's a toggle type,
then key on, flip the switch in the other direction
This would be OVERRIDE/VALET mode.

Repeat this process to toggle back to service mode.

Let me know what applies
to your issues.
