Car Alarms: Hawk alarm wiring conflict ?, pin switch, brain box

Question
I love this site :) Always full of great help... well, now it's my turn to ask for some pointers.

I'm fitting a Hawk HA260RS to my M.benz 230CE. Great unit, but the wiring diagram is a little obscure - particulary on three points:
The wire detailed for the "interior light" - i'd assume this goes to the door pin switch (neg switching).
Secondly, there is a pair of wires detailed on the control/monitor plug as "drivers door + and drivers door -" and i can't work out if this is for the locking solenoid input (seperate from the actual internal c/locking control) or for the door pin switch aswell ? it says to "consult the manual if it's + or -" very helpful :/
Lastly....there is no "aux" montor to watch the bonnet pin i've fitted, i suppose I could spike a lead from the doorpin monitor wire ?

Any help would be awesome - i want to finish the work as soon as I can -  i miss my Benz :)

Answer
Hmmm, ok let's try the following:

Good assumption. The door pin switch in this car is likely
to also be the dome light wire.
(a neg type. Only Ford is a + positive door system.
Discard this (+) wire.)

Also, all alarms put these 2 wires you are asking about
for cars with negative door light systems, and also the (+)
for the Fords.

Now, the door lock system wires would be paired up
(2 wires. 1 for lock-1 for unlock of the SAME polarity), and the polarity would probably be negative out of the brain box.
Possibly able to switch depending on Hawk's
internal relays, but paired for this purpose only.

So again, probably not the locking system,
and you will want the (- negative) to monitor the doors.
You can tie into this wire to cover the hood/"bonnet" and "boot"/trunk, but might need to differenciate from the
imput with a diode. See how this is done at relayhelp.com .

One more piece of info. The Hawk may also have a wire that
would attach to an external relay to affect
"dome light illumination", meaning when you unlock and disarm
the alarm, the interior dome light circuit is
activated for up to 30 seconds, lighting the interior
for night entrance. Neat feature, but without the addition
of a relay would damage the mother board of the alarm.

Either skip/discard this wire alltogether, or see dome light
survalience on my relay site to add it in.
www.RELAYHELP.com .

I hope this cleared it up some. Be careful under this car's dash.
Gremlins and spooks under this one if done wrong
:>( .

Thanks for the pat on the back. We work hard
here to help you guys finish these shadetree projects!

Good luck.
