Car Alarms: panic button hyundai, 2006 hyundai elantra, hyundai elantra

Question
i took possession of a 2006 hyundai elantra today
I was told the vehicle has no alarm system ,but it has
a keyless entry system with a panic button on the transmitter.
1. i do not want the panic going off - is there some way my mechanic can disable it;
2. is it correct what the salesman told me - if i use the
manual key only, and put the transmitter in a drawer somewhere,  then i don't have to worry about the panic going off?
3. in case it does go off, how long will it go off for?
thank you.auntie lil

Answer
Hmmm, ok, let's see:

1. i do not want the panic going off - is there some way my mechanic can disable it.<<<<<<<<only if this device has a valet over ride switch installed. An inspection under the dash would show if one was there or not.

2. is it correct what the salesman told me - if i use the
manual key only, and put the transmitter in a drawer somewhere,  then i don't have to worry about the panic going off?<<<<<<<<<deceptive answer. This will depend on what the device is. If an alarm and keyless entry, then placing it into override mode would be required by you to NOT have the panic be an issue. Again an inspection of just WHAT system you have in there is important. Have it evaluated by a car alarm shop near by.

3. in case it does go off, how long will it go off for?
thank you.<<<<<<Same answer as above. Without knowing what system
we are dealing with, I can not give an honest answer.
Please have it looked at.
