Car Alarms: ANTI THEFT SYSTEM ON 2002 GMC S1500 SIERRA, alarm security system, original equipment manufacturer

Question
QUESTION: THE ALARM SYSTEM(FACTORY INSTALLED) SEEMS TO BE ACTIVATING ITSELF AND STARTS GOING OFF ALL ON IT'S OWN.  IT STARTS HONKING AND BLINKING ALL ON IT'S OWN AND ANYWHERE YOU ARE (EVEN HOME).  THIS HAS NEVER OCCURED BEFORE AND WE DON'T WANT TO GO ANYWHERE JUST IN CASE.  PLEASE ASSIST WITH SOME IDEAS TO CHECK.

ANSWER: It's an after market system from your description.
Probably dealership installed when
it was purchased originaly.
When it "arms itself", this denotes it's
after market.

On this one, the shock/impact sensor seems to be the likely
culprit here.

It's usually to be found under the dash area,
blinking when anything taps on the underpanel.
Locate and either unplug or turn down.
To simply disarm it, locate and use the
valet/overide switch.

To start, look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. Repeat these steps to toggle
back to user mode after correcting he shock sensor settings.

But once in Valet mode, it will allow the car
to start and operate like there was no alarm at all.

Let me know how it goes.

QUESTION: I may have worded that wrong - we get out locked or not and minutes or hours later it starts honking and flashing.

Answer
Ok, first try this:
Key in the drivers door, turn left to disarm, then right
to unlock and open the door. If no joy,
there is a fix, but that's a bit of a problem here.
Because yours is a "FACTORY" or, OEM
(original Equipment Manufacturer) "alarm/security" system,
then the disabling procedure info for any given
specific vehicle is now deamed to be too sensitive to
publish here (as suggested by ALLEXPERTS administration.!).

So, to comply, as of March,22 08, this service is no longer
part of the volunteer information I can offer for free here at
ALLEXPERTS.com . Specific OEM/FACTORY alarm disarm/disabling
info is now available ONLY at the WIREWERX.

My installation wiring charts provide the proper wire colors,
polarities, and locations to install a keyless entry,
remote start or, car alarm system into any given vehicle,
or if just trying to disarm/disable your factory/OEM system,
there is a link there to get a tutourial on how to do it yourself
for only $3.99.

I hope you can appreciate the legal reasons behind not
providing this info any longer to just anyone who asks
for general consumption. By doing it this way, I'll
get a record of payment and a name/email address as
a stop gap to help prevent any unauthorized disabling of
your system or anyone elses, by a would be car thief!

Please go to the WIREWERX so I can get you the
info you require to fix your situation.

Hopefully, you can reset on your own first.

Good luck with this issue.
