Car Alarms: Car Wont Start, toyota camry xle, stereo head unit

Question
QUESTION: I recently installed a new stereo head unit in my car
after i reconnected my battery and tried to test everything out, my car wouldnt turn on
it doesnt even turn over
the lights all work fine and all the fuses are fine
the battery is in perfect condition, i even got it fixed

i was really frustrated for a while
but i think i just may have found the problem
i remember when i was getting my Amp and subs installed, the installer said i have an alarm but i didnt have something for it, so it wouldnt work
so he cut a wire or something

when i put my keys in the orange exterior lights start blinking along with the park, drive, reverse strip and the clock
but theres no alarm sound

im thinking my old screwed up alarm is my problem

ANSWER: Ok, we know from
this description (good one!)
that it's an after market system.

To try to disarm it,
look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. Once in Valet mode,
it will allow the car to start and operate
like there was no alarm at all.

The next step is if wanting to remove it,
you contact a local technician to
locate it, and affect neccesary service
for you.

That should solve the troubles.

Let me know what you discover.

QUESTION: i just found out something
i used to have a switch under my dash
which has now dissappeared...
so i have nothing to control the alarm with
i guess my only option is to go get it removed?

Answer
Ok then, get over to the local car alarm shop,
or even a Circuit City or Best Buys will
have a valet switch that will fit for your
alarm.

In the mean time, cut off the switch part,
leaving the 2 wires that wer connected, free.

Then twist together, turn on the ignition,
hold both wires to ground until the siren chirps.

That should reset and place the alarm into
over ride for now. Nothing accept the keyless entry
if installed will operate until you repeat the
same steps.

Then get a new switch and you're all set.

Have a good evening.
Let me know if you were
successful.
