Car Alarms: Car Alarm keeps killing my starter, ford aerostar, 1996 ford aerostar

Question
I have a 1996 Ford Aerostar that I bought from a dealership w/no paperwork on the security system. From what I can gather it's a CodeAlarm Pro 3000...at least that's what it says on the security system under the dash. Anyway, I live in Florida and because of all the rain I had a slight leak in my van. I believe it has caused the security system to malfunction and now it keeps clicking and the cutting the power to my starter. it doesn't happen every time I drive but so far it's happened 3 times this week. If I disconnect the main battery it resets itself and I can drive a few more times. but I'll be driving down the street and it starts clicking and I know in my head I shouldn't turn the van off til I get home. Of course when I do the security system has again cut power to my starter. I have the remotes but of course they never did work, so they are useless. Can someone tell me please how would I go about removing this alarm and still be able to drive my van???  Thank you!!

Answer
Where in Fla?
If it's me, I would remove it, repair the wiring
under the dash and be happy. I am in the Tampa area.
If located within 45 miles of the city, I can
take it out and repair the Ford wiring
for 45. To replace it with another alarm that you
understand and have fresh remotes for, would
be about 185.00 with the removal of the old system
for free.

For valet over ride, the LED in the dash is also the
valet/over ride button. Try:
KEY ON, PRESS AND HOLD IN THE VALET BUTTON
UNTIL THE LED LIGHT GOES ON SOLID, THEN KEY OFF.

This would over ride the starter kill relay
installed. But if no joy, removal & repair/replacement
is strongly suggested.

Let me know if I can assist further.
