Car Alarms: ALARM, valet mode, acura tl

Question
QUESTION: my remote stoped working this morning, so if i locked the door with the remote i have to unlock it the same way-so now that it dont work i unlocked it with the key and the alarm wont stop going off and i cant start it-what do i do now>?

ANSWER: I need specifics...

Make, model & year of the vehicle?

Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: i have a 96 acura tl, the alarm sytem came with the car i think it is after market, the remote starter stoped working this morning and now the only way i can unlock it is with the key but my alarm wont stop going off and i cant start it-what do i do?

Answer
Ok, should be fairly easy. To try to disarm it,
look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly.
It can also be in the antenna placed on the windshield)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. Once in Valet mode,
it will allow the car to start and operate
like there was no alarm at all.

That should solve the troubles for now.
Repeat the steps to toggle back to valet
when needed. After this occurs, take it in to a local
shop for evaluation.

Let me know what you discover.
