Car Alarms: 1995 Pathfinder Alarm impact not working, resident technicians, impact sensor

Question
I recently bought a used 95 Pathfinder SE 4x4.  It was claimed to be single owner, in great shape.  The keyless entry works fine, all other power components work. BUT...

there is a switch on the center console for the alarm that says OFF/ON/IMPACT.  When the switch is set to ON or IMPACT the little security light will flash when armed, but I can't set off the alarm by "impacting" it.  Is there a sensitivity setting? Is it possible that there is no impact alarm system installed? All my windows have a round ant-theft equipped  sticker warning.  It chirps when arming and disarming, but I've never heard the actual "alarm" going off.

How can I tell or how much will it cost to take it to a dealer to see if the alarm has an impact sensor.

Thanks for any input.

Answer
On this one, the best thing here is
to go to my installers forum at
www.installsupport.com and see if
my resident technicians there can assist
with this project. I don't know
this system and can not advise you properly.

My expertise is in after market systems.

Good luck there.
