Car Alarms: Locks on Mazda3, side kick panel, valet mode

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2005 Mazda3 with an aftermarket K-9Mundial alarm installed.  I can't lock the doors either with the remote or a key.  I've checked the fuses and they're OK and have power to them.  I've also disconnected the battery for a couple of hours in hopes of resetting the alarm to its default settings.  Now the alarm won't arm/disarm either.

ANSWER: Ok, this car uses a single wire door lock system.

Lock and unlock are done by resistance on the lock
wire output from the alarm:

USE A 1K OHM RESISTOR TO LOCK,
AND STRAIGHT GROUND TO UNLOCK. MUST USE RELAYS TO
ISOLATE AND BOOST SIGNAL. This wire is green/red in
the drivers side kick panel.

That'll fix you right up.

QUESTION: Thanks for the info, but I don't think it will solve my problem.  The system is already installed and worked fine for two years before going flaky.  It also doesn't explain why the alarm won't arm any more.

ANSWER: hmmm, have you tried valet over ride/reset to see if
it may be in service mode now?

I can be anything from a bad relay or resistor, to
simply being in an over ride mode that makes
all functions cease while servicing the vehicle.

QUESTION: Yes, I tried getting out of valet mode, to no avail.  Would a bad relay or a bad resistor prevent me from locking/unlocking with a key?  If I unhooked power to the alarm, might it restore the key function?  Is there a way to reset the whole system?

Answer
Well, the valet IS the reset button-switch,
so short of unplugging, checking for all
relays and power source/fuse issues, then
re plugging the alarm's brain box,
that's all you could do.

The key in the door would have no
direct mechanical dependence on the alarm's
functions. The key will/should
always manually unlock or lock a door.

However, by unpowering the system, you
will also loose the keyless entry,
and it may not let you start if starter kill
is involved. If this is the case,
repair will be necessary.
