Car Alarms: 97 Corolla VIP Security System, vip security, resident technicians

Question
I have a 97 Corolla with a VIP Security System. Recently there was some flooding in my area, and the actual security box that's under the driver's seat was damaged. There's a lot of corrosion in the system itself, and it causes the alarm to go off continuously. I called the dealership asking how to disable the alarm and they advised me just to disconnect the box from the wiring and it would be turned off, but now my car won't start!

How can I disable just the security system without disabling my whole vehicle? And what will happen if I plug that ruined security box back into my car's electrical system? Will the alarm go haywire again after the box is all dried out?

Answer
On this one, the best thing here is
to go to my installers forum at
www.installsupport.com and see if
my resident technicians there can assist
with this project.

I unfortunately don't know the
system you are working with to advise
you properly on it's functions,
features or trouble shooting
information. Better to check with a tech
that might.

Good luck there.
