Car Alarms: Auto-Mate 7HF Alarm System, chevy malibu, keyless entry systems

Question
When I got my 1998 Chevy Malibu from my grandmother there was just 2 regular keys. But then she sent a key that she found with the Auto-Mate 7HF attached. I installed a new battery but it doesn't work. I noticed a small red LED light on my dashboard which I believe is part of this. It doesn't blink.

I was wondering if it may be turned off. Is there I way I can arm the system again? I wuld really like to use this feature.
