Car Alarms: Toyota Security Alarm LED flashing & no alarm, car alarm installer, valet mode

Question
QUESTION: My 2004 Toyota Highlander alarm appears to be not functioning.  The keyless entry works, the alarm chirps, the headlights flash but the alarm will not sound when opening a door.  It appears to have just started today.  Both LED's are flashing alternately.  I tried going to valet and off valet which had no affect.  Is there a different sequence or is there a sequence of buttons to hit on the remote itself?  Coincidentally my wife chased a young man/teenager away from the car today trying to open the door.  Could he have done something to disable the alarm?

ANSWER: Hmmm, let's see...

It may be in panic mode. Try this:

KEY ON, PRESS N HOLD IN THE VALET FOR
UP TO 8 SECONDS. YOU SHOULD GET A RESET
CHIRP. THIS WOULD RETURN THE SYSTEM BACK
TO DEFAULT VALET MODE.

THEN REPEAT THESE STEPS TO GO
BACK INTO USER MODE.

Let me know if this solves the issue.

QUESTION: Thank you but no good.
Holding for many seconds did chirp after about 1/2 second but no other chirp.  It did go into valet mode and I restored to normal mode.  The security LED blinks twice and the upper LED once... continuously.  One other clue, I believe, the inner lights do not go on when chirping the system in either direction.

Answer
It's best then at this point to get to a local, independent
car alarm installer under the dash for inspection and
reset/repair.

I mean, you can guess all day on this one, but to save time,
have a pro look at the alarm and decypher if possible,
it's valet procedures.

Hard from my vantage point to evaluate it correctly.
